Day Shots

Gorgeous Byron Bay

Was keen to get a nice sunset to start off my Byron shots, but I got there a bit early and the sunset was nice but not intense.  This was my favourite shot of the day.  Shot it on my new Canon 1D Mark IV and it is an absolutely beautiful piece of equipment – was a bit stuck on a few settings, but once I got the manual out and figured out how basic it really was, and where all the buttons were, it was so simple to use and this was the result.  I love it!!!

What else do you do when your big brother is off at pre-school playing with his friends and I am not old enough to go… hang out with Mummy on photo shoots and look gorgeous…”

Urban Debris

Graffiti – a common, misunderstood urban art form.  Some of the designs are so intricate and colourful, its worth while stopping and checking out the detail and planning that has gone into these images or ‘Wildstyles’.  This old, abandoned warehouse in Alexandria is just oozing with thousands of compositions – if only I had the whole day to spend there…  Might get my hep shots before I head in there next time – very old, wet, dingy and a bit spooky in some sections…. One of my favourite locations…  I entered through a broken window with all my gear and then realised, after scoping the area that there was a gate open at the other side of the complex…. hmmmm… a bit of research might’ve saved me a 1.5 storey drop… all worth it!  I’m printing this one up 75″ wide for myself…

Midday at the Skillion

Sydney has been throwing me some foul weather lately, so I headed up the coast to shoot.  Ended up at the Skillion at Terrigal after midday and thought I would try it out with a polarizer filter on.  Something different from the pink hues I have been shooting at dawn and dusk.  The ocean was so bright under the sunlight, it can be different shooting in these conditions, but something to master…

Anyone for a swim..?

Spring is definitely here!  I went down to Manly yesterday for lunch and a walk to Shelley Beach – the weather was just perfect, no cool wind or scolding sun.  A clear blue sky and pristine waters – tempting enough to go for a dip or kayak…if only I had packed my bikini!  Next time…

Scooter Girl

It’s days like today you don’t mind missing a dusk shoot to spend quality time with the little ones.  Kiara is usually on a beach/headland with me passing me cleaned filters or taking her own photos for her blog, but today she was out hitting it with the boys on the skate ramp.  She is only 2, but goes faster than most 5 yr olds, crashes hard, gets back up and soliders on – with her handbag hung casually on her handlebars of the scooter.

I loved the graffiti in the background of this shot.  She is so lady-like, but a tom boy at the same time.  Very cute to watch.

….& yes, she did go down the ramp once she reached the top!!!!!

This is my capture of the day – hope you enjoy it!
